Home Group System

At Numurkah Secondary College students are allocated to a home group within a ‘House’ , either Christie, Hunkin, Gray,  or Tweddle House. Home groups are made up of students from across all year levels within the college. This system allows the students to develop a close bond with students from other levels and provides positive role modeling and support to younger students by our senior students. Each home group has two teachers who are designated to that home group on a long term basis,. This ensures that ,for their six years of secondary education, every child has a consistent support group of two teachers and students across all year levels. Students meet as a home group at the start of every day.

We have an extended home group timetable that is used to provide time for students to work with home group teachers and senior students to develop goals, discuss learning models, play team building games and have competitions against other home groups. This program also provides a great opportunity for students to learn organisational skills and be involved in other activities designed to enhance important social skills.
