Lunchtime Activities

Cook Your Own Lunch

This activity is held once per week for students and staff at lunchtimes in our Food Technology Centre. A variety of foods are chosen each time such as Pasta Carbonara, Chicken Wrap or Pitta Bread Pizza, at a cost of $2.00 per person.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn how to be self sufficient by experiencing how to quickly cook or prepare a nutritious, tasty and cost effective lunch. Student then mix socially whilst enjoying lunch together.

Textiles Activities

Once per week at lunchtime, the textiles room is open for students to complete their  class projects or work on other pieces of their choice under the supervision of the Textiles Teacher.  Students who have a particular interest in sewing and craft are regular attendees and enjoy this social time to share their interest with other likeminded students.

Wood/Metal Workshops

These workshops are open at lunchtime each week for students to work on either their school assessment projects or on other projects they wish to complete. This lunchtime program is available for all student regardless of whether they are enrolled in timetabled wood or metal classes, and teacher supervision is provided.

This extra curricular program has allowed several students to complete large projects that cannot be completed in class time alone e.g. trailers and beds. Along with individual projects, our students also complete team projects such as the CAMS challenge vehicle for 2010.

Mathematics Tutoring

Once a week at lunchtime, a Maths teacher is available to help students with either extra tuition, assistance with homework or just to provide students with the opportunity to work on mathematical problems of their choice.

Students are also able to use the time to gain practice with the CAS calculator.

'Open Mike'

Students are given the opportunity to participate in an ‘Open Mike’ lunch session held monthly, where they are encouraged to perform in front of an audience of students and teachers in the Hall. It is open to serious music students who play any genre of music. They utilise this chance to release original works and to gain experience in performing. Other students are also welcome to perform in a Karaoke-style sing -a –long in which audience participation is common.
